I have just finished a book by Ruth Rendell. I chose it because its title reminded me of my brother. It is called "Adam and Eve and Pinchme". Frank was always playing tricks on me. He recited this rhyme.
Adam and Eve and Pinchme
went down the river to bathe
Adam and Eve got drownded
Who do you think got saved?
Pleased for once that I knew the answer to one of his riddles I said triumphantly "Pinchme".
And he did!

Ramblings of a nonagenerian (vintage 1923). Grew up in Lambeth in the 20s and 30s. Lived and worked in London during World War II. I have been attempting to do the Telegraph Cryptic Crossword since 1939! (My daughter says I *have* to write this, but I am troubled as it sounds so conceited.) I bought my first computer aged 85 and am continually frustrated by the vagaries of the technological age.
